High-level EIT Water & CLC South Event Published on: Jan 14 2026 DIH Innovamare, Ruđer Bošković Institute and University of Zadar, as Croatian partners within the CLC South consortium, are pleased to invite you to participate in the High-level EIT Water & CLC South Event, taking place on 30 January 2026 in Zadar, Croatia. Europe is facing increasingly complex challenges related to water security, climate change, environmental pressures and the sustainable use of marine and coastal resources, with the Mediterranean among the most vulnerable regions. Addressing floods, droughts, coastal degradation and ecosystem stress requires coordinated political leadership, scientific excellence and innovation-driven solutions. In this context, the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) has launched EIT Water, a new Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) dedicated to strengthening Europe’s capacity to innovate across the water, marine and maritime sectors. EIT Water connects research, industry, public authorities and entrepreneurs to develop, test and scale solutions that enhance climate resilience, support sustainable economic growth and deliver tangible benefits for citizens. Croatia plays a strategic role in this effort through its participation in CLC South, the Mediterranean regional hub of EIT Water. Building on strong scientific institutions, an extensive Adriatic coastline and close links to maritime sectors such as ports, tourism, fisheries and logistics, Croatia is well positioned to contribute to, and benefit from, European water and blue economy innovation. The High-level EIT Water & CLC South Event in Zadar will bring together representatives of European institutions, national governments, academia and the innovation ecosystem to: formally inaugurate the activities of EIT Water & CLC South in Croatia, align European, national and regional priorities on water innovation and climate resilience, strengthen cross-ministerial cooperation in support of the Mediterranean blue economy, highlight concrete opportunities for SMEs, startups, researchers and public authorities to engage with EIT Water programmes. The event programme includes high-level political addresses, strategic presentations on EIT Water and CLC South, a ministerial panel discussion, and dedicated opportunities for media engagement and networking. Registration Participation in the event is by registration only. We kindly invite interested participants from European and national institutions, regional and local authorities, academia, industry, startups and the wider innovation community to register in advance to secure their place. We look forward to welcoming you to Zadar for a focused, high-level dialogue and an important milestone in advancing water and maritime innovation in the Mediterranean.
