Registrations for the conference “Sustainable blue economy in the context of climate change and biodiversity degradation driven by marine technologies” are now open!

On Wednesday, April 10, 2024, the University of Zadar will host a conference organized with the idea of gathering stakeholders from the key sectors of the blue economy, and encouraging discussion on the challenges and opportunities for achieving a sustainable blue economy in the EU and the world, taking into account the impact of climate change and degradation of biodiversity.

This is an opportunity to hear decision-makers from Croatia and other countries about how they support this process of digital and green transformation, and on the other hand to listen to representatives of the private sector about the challenges they face and the needs for faster implementation, and the scientific and research sector will present their findings in the challenges we face in the context of climate change and biodiversity.

The organizers of this conference are the Digital Innovation Hub Innovamare and the University of Zadar, who, through their example of successful cooperation, open up new opportunities for new partnerships that will contribute to the creation of solutions as a response to the existing challenges of biodiversity conservation and conservation in the area of the blue economy.

Support in the organization of the conference was provided by the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, the Croatian Chamber of Economy

Participation in the conference is free, and applications will be open from March 15, 2024 through the Mairos platform. The number of places is limited.

Within the framework of the conference, two parallel events are organized, which you can sign up for during registration:

B2B meetings with Norwegian companies, of which you can choose a maximum of two, which are organized within the MATIN project, funded by Innovation Norway. The meetings will be organized for the purpose of strengthening bilateral B2B cooperation in the field of innovative maritime technologies and the exchange of ideas and a potential framework for cooperation in Norway and Croatia.

National participatory workshop for the identification of gaps, needs and solutions for the advancement of research and innovation in the Blue Economy of Croatia

The workshop is organized by the SeaTecHub project and members of the partner consortium from Croatia: Croatian Chamber of Economy, FER, Šibenik-Knin County, IN2, Ministry of Science and Education, 20000 Leagues, DIH AGRIFOOD. The workshop will bring together selected stakeholders working in the sectors of (i) aquaculture and fisheries, (ii) smart ports, (iii) maritime security and safety, (iv) maritime technologies and (v) research and education. The primary objective of this workshop is to gather your valuable insights and perceptions on research and innovation gaps and needs within these sectors. The results will contribute to the formulation of a joint strategy of Cyprus and Croatia for research and innovation in the blue economy.
